Sue West

Sue leads the Globo team. She has been working in the ICT/ELearning area for over 10 years.

Sue is an excellent communicator and vibrant speaker. She is an expert in analysing emerging trends and is futuristic in her approach. Sue has established a reputation as an expert in communicating complex issues into simple ideas in an interesting and entertaining way. As an educator, she brings a strong evidence-base to her presentations, yet is able to effectively engage with diverse audiences.

Sue is a former President of the Auckland Computers in Education Society. She is currently on the Ministry of Education EHSAS Conference Committee.

Sue is a sought after consultant for the education sector.

Sue is originally from Wellington. She now lives sometimes in Sandringham, Auckland and sometimes on Rakino Island in the Hauraki Gulf.
David Kinane – eLearning Facilitator

B.Ed (Hons), PGCH


David has been a specialist ICT practitioner for over 10 years and is currently a facilitator with an Auckland ICT PD cluster. He has worked in both primary and secondary education. David is an excellent communicator and has presented at conferences in Prague, Melbourne and in New Zealand.  His innovative remote teaching initiative with students in the UK has been recognised by both the Minister of Education here and the Education authorities in the UK.  David has a deep knowledge of a wide range of open source software and Web 2.0 utilities that he continually finds innovative ways to integrate into the curriculum.


David is originally from London but has lived in New Zealand on and off since 1976.  He is currently based in the eastern suburbs of Auckland.

Angie Simmons - Facilitator 
B.A, Dip Tchg (Pr), M.Ed. 

Angie Simmons has experience as a classroom teacher, as an owner/supervisor of an early childhood centre, as an ICTPD facilitator for two ICTPD clusters and also as an Education Lecturer in the School of Education at Unitec. 

Angie is the author of the ‘Learning Journeys in ICT’ series of books published by Essential Resources Ltd. These books include ‘Digital Storytelling’, ‘Multimedia’, ‘The Thinking Classroom’, ‘Switch Online’, ‘Inquiry Learning and ICT’, ‘The Early Years and ICT’, ‘Interactive Whiteboards’, ‘The Social Web’, ‘Digital Literacy’, ‘Integrating ICT’,  and ‘Key Competencies, Book one and two which are in the process of publication.

Karen Hansen - Web Researcher
B.A, Dip Tchg

Karen comes from a primary teaching and advocacy background. She has taught in various places in NZ and as an itinerant teacher with the Gypsy/Traveller community in outer London. This also involved teaching and working with circus and fairground families. Karen is experienced in Special Needs / ESOL teaching and learning.

Karen has strengths in literacy including information literacy. She is particularly skilled at 'mining' the Internet and gathering information from a variety of sources.
